music ministries
Music at Bethlehem continues to be a defining characteristic of our personality and spirit as a church. We aim to enhance worship at Bethlehem by using our gifts and talents to praise God and uplift our congregation. Sunday morning worship is typically accompanied by piano, organ, and choir, although we explore musical worship through a wide variety of genres and styles.
The Bethlehem Choir
The Bethlehem Choir is our flagship choral ensemble that performs a variety of music from the renaissance through the 21st century. We hover around 25 singers, consisting of congregants, professionals from the community, and performance majors from the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan.
The Bethlehem Choir is typically featured with orchestra at all special events (Christmas, Easter, Totenfest, etc.) in addition to other concerts throughout the year. Notable works performed include Bach's Christ lag in todesbanden, Charpentier, Messe De Minuit Pour Noël, Kodaly's Missa Brevis, Vivaldi's Gloria, Vierne's Messe Solennelle, Handel's Messiah, and more.
The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-7:15 PM and sings 1-2 selections at the 10:00AM service. We welcome anyone who is interested to sing with a wonderful, fun community of accepting, loving, and kind people.
